This week, I'm mostly reading for classes. There are papers coming up, and therefore any extra reading goes to research and, I must admit, holiday guides. >

We're done with Volume 1 and part of Volume 2. This is probably my favorite out of the three Charles Dickens novels we've read in the class; the other two are: Oliver Twist and David Copperfield. The writing here is so different, but the characters seem to be recycled. I do like that the main character isn't so righteous and pure as Oliver and David were, and there is less melodrama here. >

Sci-Fi class. Gosh. This novel is SO BIZARRE but also well-written. It's set on a frontier planet, in which technology is a little less advanced than on the home planet. The life here isn't that great, since human trafficking is a huge market. The main character and his brother David live an insular life in a large mansion. They are taught and babysat by their instructor, who is a cyborg whose mind has been transferred into a computer. The main character, named Number 5 by his mysterious and elusive father, starts noticing familiar faces around the town. And their father has been conducting experiments on their minds...what could he want from his sons?>
